Open Source Software for z/OS
Welcome to oss4zos.org, the unofficial home of open source software projects for z/OS. z/OS is IBM's flagship operating system for its zEnterprise mainframe computers. z/OS includes UNIX System Services, a certified implementation of the UNIX™ operating system. z/OS also fully supports Java™. The UNIX and Java standards provide a strong foundation for popular open source software products. Many are already available for z/OS, and many others likely run already but require a bit of documentation to describe any unique considerations for z/OS.
This site serves two primary purposes: helping z/OS users locate open source software and information, and fostering greater community education and support to bring more open source software projects and specific documentation to z/OS. Like the open source projects themselves, it is a work in progress, relying mainly on volunteer editorial contributions.
